I can hear the sounds associated with this painting when I look at it. It is peaceful with a soft breeze in the air, water lapping onto the rocks. The smooth water reflects the sky above, disguising the rich deep darkness of the river. A crimson tree stands as a beacon upon water-washed rocks.
High contrast in light and dark areas are what excites me with this painting. Especially that splash of red. I painted the piece with palette knives for smooth areas in the water, but also to give a little bit of texture, where the breeze would rustle the surface of the water. A round brush gave the work its final touches.
