On a bright sunny spring day, the sun’s bright light filters through new, lime-coloured leaves and dances across the surface of the water. Instantly I am captivated with the flash of light on the glassy surface, the perfect reflections and partly submerged weave of last summer’s leaves and pine needles. Dark water creates a fantastic canvas for the sky’s rich blue hues, the cloud whites and tree greens, the colours being brushed around by a touch of spring breeze. This painting is what I see in the pond. It is more than upside-down trees. It’s a discovery of what is in the pond; a scene which challenges you to visually and mentally readjust.
Pond Surface In Spring #10 was created with palette knives, blending, scraping, applying paint in a quick fashion, while the paint remained wet.
