River Guardian was started en plein air in Annie Williams Park, Bracebridge and later finished in my studio. I have a particular love for trees. Just like people, each one possesses its own unique characteristics and personality.
The stature, character and shape of this pine tree alongside the Muskoka River drew me in. It stands as a sentinel looking over the water, watching the comings and goings of people and wildlife as if protecting everything in its domain.
