While hiking along the Muskoka River on a hot, sunny autumn afternoon, the sound of splashing water caught my attention. It sounded refreshing and cool, exciting and inviting. Following its call along the shadowed banks, just up ahead, I could see sunbaked granite boulders with fresh water crashing over and around them. As yesterday’s rain now funneled down the river’s course, plants and trees were washed with newness, adding a fresh scent to the air.
Rocky Rush was created using palette knives. Painting quickly allows me to blend colours before they set. As the paint continues to dry, it is the perfect moment to create more texture by scraping and manipulating the paint over its surface.
