A snowy owl in flight, against a background of snow, is a dynamic image evoking freedom, power and beauty. Felting the image brings a third dimension into the work, as the owl emerges from the background. I am drawn often to working in black and white, which is both dramatic and restrained at once. The white owl against the white snow benefits from the textural reach of felting.
