Swirl and Yellow Steps were created together.  I made a lot of fun expressive marks in colours that I liked, intending for this to be a layer that would be covered over.  Then, I added a neutral grey on swirl.  But, on Yellow Steps, I liked the very light open feel and didn't change it.  So you can choose between a more muted, smoky feel or a very lighthearted one.   I have a few paintings with "steps" in them.  Stepping Stones is an older piece.  Finding the Path is another with a similar theme.  I think this idea of steps has to do with staying in the present moment and just taking one step at a time.  We don't know where we are going.  We have to trust that each step will lead us forward.  My painting experience is like this too. I trust that one mark will lead to another.
