Herons are very skittish and it is usually very had to photograph them. I came across this heron while out on a paddle and fortunately, I saw him before he saw me. I stopped paddling and observed and took photos for about 20 minutes until he finally took off from the shore's edge and I was able to capture him in flight on his way to a stump.
