The Water Keepers by Lynda Lynn
The Water Keepers by Lynda Lynn
I’ve long been concerned about the destruction of the quality the water in Muskoka through so many factors, and have painted about the wee creatures (such as daphnia) that help to filter and keep it clean. This painting is about the larger influences. Beavers change their environment, creating ponds that reduce erosion and flooding, provide fire resilience, filter the water, provide habitat and resources for many other species, including fish, mammals, birds, insects, amphibians, and plants. In these paintings, I hope to bring a better awareness to the importance of protecting this incredible treasure that so many take granted. In Muskoka, we have some of the top scientists in the world who work on water quality. We need to take advantage of their expertise and recommendations and put their ideas to work.
